Argus Global has announced an exclusive distribution agreement with Iris ID for Australia and New Zealand.

According to the companies, Iris ID has been developing the commercialization of iris recognition since 1997. Together, the two companies have a combined 30 years of expertise skills in the biometrics market.

Reported previously, Argus Global recently launched its “Smart Kiosk,” a self-contained unit which uses multi-modal biometrics to verify users. In terms of its possible uses, Argus lists many, including at entertainment venues, retail settings, membership clubs or hospitals. The machine can be configured for a number of potential uses.

This past summer, South Carolina’s Winthrop University rolled-out an iris recognition access control system on its campus from Iris ID.
